3PL Customers – How to Create a Shipment
Tech Track - automated technology for a new pick-up system!
What Is Tech Track?
The new technology, already implemented in the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland
and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, as welll as Kingston and Ottawa, includes the deployment of handheld devices for drivers to execute pick-ups and capture signatures on delivery. In addition, Tech Track provides an order management application and dispatch software for more effective trip planning.
What Are the Benefits for You?
Upon logging a pickup, we will provide you with a PROBILL or Tracking number, electronic Bill of Lading (BOL), and shipping labels for each item which the shipper will use to label the freight. This occurs immediately upon scheduling a pickup.
How Can We Deliver These Benefits to You?
In order for us to deliver these benefits to you and your customers, the following information is required at the time of logging a pick-up:
- Full Shipper and Consignee information (including postal code and shipper contact name) with full description of freight (commodity) being picked up. Dimensions, weight, and any special instructions so that we can enter this information directly in our system. This will also be printed on the BOL.
- Shipper’s email address. We have the flexibility of emailing the shipper with the BOL and labels directly from our system or through a secured website account. The BOL and letter-size labels will consist of our PROBILL number and will provide a label or labels for each piece ensuring proper
piece count upon pickup and delivery. The system will identify them, as an example, 1 of 3, 2 of 3 and 3 of 3.
The BOL will include your Bill-To Account which will also help prevent any billing issues or any errors that may occur throughout the current input process. If you prefer to review the BOL prior to us sending it to shipper, we can forward you the link for your approval. This link will then be required to be forwarded to the shipper so that they can use the pre-defined PROBILL or Tracking # and print it along with the label(s) to identify the shipment and hand over to the driver.
What Do You Need to Do to Realize These Benefits?
For us to be able to deliver these benefits, we will need you to forward us your shippers’ email addresses, along with a contact name. If this is not an option, you may utilize our secured website to schedule your pickups and get the full benefits of these enhancements.
The link to the required paperwork will be provided from the secured website so that you may forward to the shipper. The shipper can then print and give to the driver at the time of pickup. The driver will require this BOL in order to scan the web generated PROBILL information into our system.
Phased Implementation
The timing of the online POD availability may differ depending on whether the technology is fully implemented in the terminal that handles your shipments. If you require support in retrieving an online POD, please call 1.866.329.7677.
